Know When to Go: CodeRED
CodeRed is Nevada County’s “Opt-In” emergency alert system.
Emergency notifications may be received as:
Text
Email
Calls to landlines or Mobile Phones
Teletypewriter (TTY)
(Note that CodeRED emergency notifications will not be sent for every fire in Nevada County. They are only sent when a fire is deemed a serious threat to life and property and only for the home address you provide when you register.)
Step 1: Register all the phones in your household (choose one):
- Visit ReadyNevadaCounty.org/EmergencyAlerts
- Call 211 or 1-833-DIAL211.
-If it’s been a while since you registered, it’s a good idea to doublecheck your registration to make sure all your contact information is up to date.
Step 2: Add CodeRED to Your Contacts
-Add CodeRED to your Contacts so calls and texts don’t appear to be spam.
- Emergency calls will originate from (866) 419-5000.
- Non-emergency calls will originate from (855) 969-4636.
-Texts will originate from different numbers depending on your cellular service provider.
-If you tend to silence your phone or leave it on do-not-disturb, set up emergency bypass for those contacts.
Step 3: Change Ring and Text Tones for CodeRED
-Change the ring and text tones for CodeRED to something loud and distinctive so you’ll recognize it immediately.
